Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

The Philippines is celebrating its 21st International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. It is the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia, gathering aviators and spectators from around the world for four days of non-stop flying action. And this 2017 could be the last one to be held in Clark, Pampanga. Well, I hope that the fiesta won’t stop and still continue in its new venue. It may or may not continue as they say, so we really made up our minds and went for this event.

Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

The event takes place in Clark, Pampanga Freeport Zone. So, it is an open field and a perfect place for events like this. It’s going to be a 2-3 hours ride from Manila and you should come here early if you want to witness some flying in the morning because it starts as early as 6 am. Expect a sea of crowds and super long lines. So, make sure you are prepared. Get sun protection! Also, you can save yourself from the hassle of lining up because you can purchase tickets online. We’re lucky now in today’s digital world, some things can be done easily. This greatly saves your time and effort. Ticket starts at P350 for general admission. But, you can check here for other pricing and VIP stuff to estimate next year’s event.

Open Field And The Crowd

People go here to witness inflating the hot air balloons and send them off to the skies. There are a lot of different designs and unique form factor that will catch your eyes. Even the crowd itself is really something. Do people really enjoy this and constantly go here? Or most of them are just first-timers and are just curious about how it’s like to be in the actual event? Seriously, as soon as I arrived, the feeling was a mixture of excitement and disappointment.

Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Of course, everyone is just so excited to experience the event. Also, it’s a no-brainer, an event like this will automatically have a lot of people. I am not really sure but, the organizers somehow failed at some point in terms of handling the event area. There were some incidents happened on the entrance and exit. So yeah, there’s really an incident happened because the entry and exit points are in just one place only. So, people were battling it out as they enter and exit the premise. It was really hard to deal with it but you just have to have a very long patience. Kids were crying because of heat and people pushing. To solve it, the police stopped the people entering to make an exit for the crowds going out.

The Main Attraction

So, there are 2 main attractions I believe. The hot air balloon flying in the morning and landing late afternoon. We went on the morning event because we thought that it would be hard for us to continue until the night’s event. So, here are the cute balloons that are set to fly. πŸ™‚

Final Words

Overall, it was good. I went for an experience. But I don’t think I will go again unless I get a VIP pass. Well, I think it will set you in the different field where there’s lesser crowd and probably nearer the balloons? And because of this, I was not able to get some nice and closer shots. I will need to have a better planning and organizing the next time I visit because it’s nice to see a hot air balloon up close. πŸ™‚

First of all I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Appreciate it!

I loved the colorful balloons and their designs. I have never been to a hot air balloon show myself and I want to take part in one of these. You have managed to capture so really good pictures!

The designs of the balloons this year are more beautiful and colorful compared to that of last year. πŸ˜€ I have tried going to this event in 2016, the 20th international hot air balloon fest, I had a great time, except for the part that I waited for hours just to ride a jeepney from Clark to Sm.. hahaha

Now this really does look like a lot of fun. Certainly, I’m not too sure I could handle being up in a hot air balloon due to some pretty severe vertigo but staring up at them would be quite a sight. You managed to capture some really lovely shots

Will an anti-vertigo help you overcome this? I believe this is going to be a very nice ride for you and a great feeling being on top and flying. πŸ™‚

I’m really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.

My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find nearly all of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content for you personally? I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on most of the subjects you write regarding here. Again, awesome web site!

If you can’t get close enough to the balloons to take good photos, you definitely need a VIP pass for the hot air balloon fiesta. You can also ride on the hot air balloons for a unique experience. I didn’t attend this year because like you, I ALSO thought once is enough for me XD

Hahaha! I am not sure if I am just bitter about the VIP prices and stuff. But it is really expensive even riding on a balloon. But yeah, once is enough πŸ™‚

I agree! I also don’t want too much crowd but the experience even for a 1 time is something that is still memorable.

It was my dream to ride on a hot air balloon too! But it’s really expensive here at $350, I cannot afford. But hopefully someday, I will. πŸ™‚

The hot air balloons really look spectacular. The sight of the balloons floating in the air must have been quite something. Yes, these events tend to get crowded. Hope you get a VIP pass next time and can get closer to the balloons.

The only sad thing is that the VIP pass is just so expensive huhu. But hopefully, things will change for the better.

    Hi Andi,

This must be very cool to see that many balloons getting into the air, I always wanted to go to an event like this, but never had any of these near the place I live. The other thing that you might know. I always wanted to try a ride with these hot air balloons but I am not sure that on an event like this you have the possibility to get into a balloon for some extra price? That would be awesome πŸ˜€ Nice post by the way!

Me too I wanted to ride a hot air balloon but in this festival, it costs $350 to ride at any type. For me it is so expensive. So, I just have to enjoy the scenery instead.

I’ve seen and read a couple of posts already about them going to this festival and it makes me want to experience it next year hopefully! I see it’s really crowded. I hate having visiting a very crowded plus hot place but for the experience why not!

Me too, I hate visiting crowded places but this is for the experience hoping that it would really be fun and all worth it. As they say, this might be the last fiesta. But hopefully, they’ll continue and get a better organizer.
